Uppsala Cathedral (Uppsala Domkyrka) dates back to the late 13th century and at a height of 118m is the tallest church building in Scandinavia. Originally built under Roman catholicism and used for coronations of the Swedish monarch, since the Protestant Reformation, it has been controlled by the Lutheran Church of Sweden. A number of Swedish kings and notable people were buried inside the cathedral including King Gustav Vasa and Carl Von Linne.
Uppsala University was founded in 1477. It consistently ranks among the best universities in Northern Europe in international rankings and is generally considered one of the most prestigious institution of higher learning in Europe. The population of Uppsala is made of around 40% students coming from all parts of Sweden and countries from around the world.
Uppsala Castle (Uppsala Slott) was built at a time Sweden was on its way to become a great power in Europe. King Gustav Vasa began the construction of the castle in 1549. A fire seriously damaged it in 1702, reducing it essentially to a ruin. Reconstruction took many years and was indeed hampered by the remains of the castle being used as a quarry for stones to be used in building Stockholm palace. The castle was the administrative center for Uppland for many years, and is today the residence of the County Governor of Uppsala County.
The wedding will take place in Helga Trefaldighets church which is located just next to Uppsala cathedral. The dinner and party will be in one of the room of the castle.
